Bigger and better…

Thanks to the amazing support of our customers (not to mention serious demand from the likes of Topshop), work has now started on our new production facility.

Building finally got underway this week and we’re hoping to have our bigger, better workshop up and running as soon as possible. It’s ideally located for our workers – within walking distance to the Kibera – and it will double up as a packaging plant and dispatch office, so we can cut out all those cost-sapping middlemen. Can’t wait!

We’re also on the lookout for new artisans; a larger facility needs a larger workforce, so we’ll be generating even more employment in this impoverished area.

Looking back, it’s been an incredible journey: when we first started out, virtually all of our products were made by Aman, a lone craftsman living in the Kibera slum. Within six months Aman was helping us to set up our first studio/workshop. He’s still with us today and is as excited about the new place as we are.

Hi Christina, I'm getting in touch as i'm a journalist and would be very interested in covering MADE in some aspect. I was based in Nairobi for 2 years and, annoyingly and sadly, have just left and am in Mauritius for a stint. However, I'm always interested in covering great stories I'll be back in Kenya from time to time - i work for many magazines and BBC radio - do you send out press releases or do you have a newsletter? Many thanks
Victoria
